The Road 96 development team comes out of its own documentary
Road 96 is a game designed to send you in an unforgettable trip, again and again. It is a kind of procedural narration that shows that a world evolves over time, while you try race after race. But it is far from the only story that Road 96 may claim, and with a new documentary, DigiXart aims to give this story a wider audience.
Projects, especially independent projects, often have crazy stories behind their creation. While the AAA game studios have this thing for a science, companies with less money and experience are often faced with unique challenges - those who, of course, require unique solutions. On The Road 96 shows exactly these situations.
If you have already heard the story of Hello Games (the team behind No Man s Sky), you know it was a crazy race - but this documentary came from a used source. Do you imagine hearing all that from the same people who worked on the project? Those who have concluded trade agreements, those who have seen the media hype that the game generated and those who knew exactly what they were going to give to this hungry crowd ... that kind of perspective is not something you can get in as an abroad. Frankly, I do not know why projects like this are not more common, it s a great way to establish a deeper connection with independent developers.
I wanted to document the incredible course of the teams throughout, it became bigger than the original idea, said Yoan Fanise, CEO and Creative Director of DigiXart. I hope it will give our fans a glimpse of the passion we pour as a studio in our projects, see how we live the game.
This is not the first time someone tries to shed light on the stories of independent developers. A news website has been created specifically to honor these unpublished stories, but only the time will tell us if there is enough interest to make these outings a must attend the video game scene.
